What is a Puja?

What is a Puja?

A puja is an offering made with love and a feeling of abundance. “Pu” means flowering and “ja” means born out of. Together the word means, “arising out of a state of fullness.

A puja is a joyous and festive ceremony or celebration of reverence.  You will connect with friends, and make new acquaintances, delight in music, dancing and at times aphrodisiac foods. The puja practice honors the Divine in all of us. It is for singles and couples for the novice and the experienced practitioner.

Spiritually minded, fun loving, heart-centered, sensual singles and couples attend these popular events. We create a safe and sacred space where we may allow ourselves to touch and be touched in a reverent non-sexual way.

In the west, the puja is a celebration of the interplay between Divine male and Divine female energy. The puja involves creating a beautiful sacred space. The men prepare a simple “temple” on the floor with two pillows or cushions and blanket in the outer circle facing inward. The women sit in an inner circle facing outward. Each individual has his/her own space within the circles. During the evening, the women rotate for each exercise, giving them a chance to share a playful (nonsexual) energy exchange with each man. Couples may choose to remain together for the evening. The focus is on honoring and recognizing the highest aspect of each individual.

The puja is an incredible way to understand the concept of Namaste – “The highest in me honors the highest in you.” Love, respect and reverence are essential in creating the puja atmosphere. During the puja you are encouraged to open your heart and look deeply into someone’s eyes. You might be asked to nurture or be nurtured, be sensual or receive a gift. You may find yourself dancing or laughing like a child. A puja is a fun, safe and sensual way to connect, touch and be touched from the heart space. It is so much fun to watch people open their hearts wide to so many people at one time with such grace and beauty.

Pujas work best when there is gender balance. For this reason, we invite you to bring a friend of the opposite sex instead of coming alone. The puja is open to couples and singles regardless. The more the merrier.

Wear colorful, comfortable, sensual clothing that feels good against your skin. Men dress to captivate and impress the Goddess and women dress as the beautiful Goddess that you are.
